Description

Join us for the REINZ 15th Annual Fishing Tournament proudly sponsored by Property Press who this year will be chartering their own boat.

In addition to the highly coveted trophy, this competitive tournament offers amazing prizes with over $2,250 in cash prizes alone.

Prizegiving shall be held after the weigh-in at the Auckland Sailing Club.

The cash bar will be open from 2.30pm and there will be a light meal provided to all registered entrants.

Ramp and trailer parking is available at Okahu Bay, but parking is metered.

Please note: Boats will not be provided so get in early with your charter boat, or book in with the Property Press charter (details to come)

Important Information

  • Competition is limited to 200 anglers so get in quick to avoid missing out.
  • Every boat member must enter to qualify otherwise the boat will be disqualified on competition day.
  • Competition is open to all REINZ agency members, their salespeople and administration staff. Family, friends and clients are also welcome to participate.
  • All registrations must be made by 5.00pm, Tuesday 27 February 2018 - no registrations will be accepted on the day. No refunds will be processed after 5.00pm, Tuesday 27 February 2018.
  • No BYO alcohol to be consumed on the grounds of the Auckland Sailing Club.
  • Prizegiving and a light meal will commence as soon as the weigh-in is completed and results collated.

Rules of Competition

  • All entrants must purchase a competition via Eventbrite.
  • Every boat member must enter to qualify i.e. four persons on board means four competition tickets must be purchased to avoid disqualification.
  • Fishing may commence from daybreak on Friday 2 March 2018. Fishing must be in the area of Chart 532 and Firth of Thames.
  • Fish to be caught by rod or hand-line. No nets or set lines.
  • Snapper minimum length 300mm for the day of contest, otherwise MAF regulations apply to all other species.
  • Each entrant may weigh in 5 snapper, 3 kahawai and other species according to MAF regulations.
  • All entrants must present themselves to the REINZ team at a designated registration desk on arrival at the Auckland Sailing Club and must be able to show on demand their competition ticket, which must be identifiable by the REINZ team. You can print your ticket once purchased from Eventbrite.
  • Official weigh-in at the Auckland Sailing Club, Okahu Bay from 3.00pm - 4.00pm (must be in line by 4.00pm).
  • In the event of two fish of the same weight, the first weighed in will be the winner.
  • Entrants must be present at the prizegiving with a valid competition ticket to claim any prize.
  • The decision of the Weigh Master will be final on the acceptance of any presented fish.
  • The major prize will be for the average weight snapper with other prizes for heaviest snapper, heaviest kahawai, heaviest kingfish and heaviest other (excluding sharks, rays and eels). There will also be mystery weight and draw prizes.
  • If the REINZ team deem the weather and/or sea conditions to be unsafe, the tournament will be advised to take place in the inner harbour or cancelled. An email will be sent to each team's contact person confirming if the fishing tournament is proceeding or not by 4.00pm Thursday 1 March 2018. No refunds will be processed if the tournament is cancelled due to the weather and/or sea conditions.
  • If the tournament is cancelled, then the prizegiving (including light meal) will still continue at the advertised time with a bar tab in place of cash prizes.
  • It is the skipper's responsibility to ensure they only take the vessel out in conditions that are appropriate to both the type of vessel and their own skill level.
